PRASAT PREAH PITHU

Date: first half of the 12th century and some parts are of 13th century
King: Suryavarman II and Jayavarman VII
Religion: Hinduism (dedicated to the Shiva and Buddhism)

Prasat Preah Pithu is a group temple which was designed separate one to the other, there are 5 temples were constructed in different period some are Buddhist and some are Hinduism temple. These 5 buildings were constructed during the rank of the king Suryavarman II and Jayavarman VII; these 5 temples have planned as following:

1.       The first temple it looks bigger than the other and stood on a base with 3 levels and there is only one tower with 4 doorways facing to the cardinal directions, inside this building they found the Linga with 1m height. This temple was enclosed by the sandstone wall is 40m wide by 45m long and there are only 2 gates facing east and west, Angkor style Suryavarman II.

2.      The second temple was built on the common low base with one tower and there are 4 door-ways opened to the cardinal directions, the temple was surround by a moat (28m wide by 35m long) Suryavarman II.
3.      The third temple just behind the 2 temple it is about 30m to the north of their axis, the temple stood on the square base with 40m on each sides, and was built by the king Jayvarman VII.
4.      The fourth temple doesn’t have wall surrounded, it is a small temple was built on the lower platform with 1 tower and decorated with 4 doorways opened to all 4 directions. The main tower was originally installed with Shiva Linga 1.5m high (Suryavarman II).
5.      The fifth temple is different from the other 4 temple, this one was stood on the artificial mount probably temple was constructed by the two kings Suryavarman II and Jayavarman VII, the temple was surrounded by a moat (60m wide by 116m long) Buddhist and Hinduism.
